SUIBAN (Moribana Style)
This Suiban, crafted by Synceramic, was glazed with a recent favorite combination of yellow ash glaze and matte black. It was designed to hold the treasures of your home—perfect for displaying fruits, nuts, sweets, or cakes.
Initially, the idea was to create it as a platform for a teapot or as a waste bin for a tea ceremony, but that vision shifted, especially since Yang Ce would surely want to carve it with a mountain design!
The piece has been bisque-fired and sat on the studio shelf for quite some time. Eventually, Yang Ce gave it a beautiful black forest hue glaze. The piece was fired in Syncstudio’s first 2025 firing to welcome the new year! Now, its form seems to be calling out as the perfect base for an Ikebana arrangement! It would pair wonderfully with fire red crackers or small yellow sparkles to bring it to life.
Excited to see where this piece’s story will go from here.
Enjoy!
